Standard sections reuse the Steel Beam Design library directly. Custom shapes use exact closed-form geometry (area, centroid, moment of inertia, section/plastic modulus) except where noted — torsion constant J for open built-up shapes (I, channel, angle, T) uses the standard Σ(b·t³)/3 thin-walled approximation, and J for the rectangular tube uses Bredt's thin-walled closed-tube approximation. This tool does not replace engineering judgement — always verify with a licensed engineer.
