Every value on this row is read directly from the Steel Beam Design section library — none of it is recomputed by this tool.

Standard sections reuse the Steel Beam Design library directly. Custom shapes use exact closed-form geometry (area, centroid, moment of inertia, section/plastic modulus) except where noted — torsion constant J for open built-up shapes (I, channel, angle, T) uses the standard Σ(b·t³)/3 thin-walled approximation, and J for the rectangular tube uses Bredt's thin-walled closed-tube approximation. Verified against hand calculations, published code tables and textbook examples. For real projects, have a licensed engineer review the results.
